Applications Brochures

By selecting a field of Application

Chemical Process

We can help you understand your challenges better with a range of systems designed to obtain rates of both temperature and pressure rises during decomposition as well as to measure kinetics and determine long term stability of materials or formulations.

Batteries

Batteries are essential power sources for every application from your new MP3 player, to the development of carbon neutral transportation. As demand for new and more powerful battery packs grows so do materials requirements. Setaram offers you a broad range of technologies for your laboratory, including traditional TGA and DSC as well as Gas Sorption techniques.

Food

Thermal analysis is one of the most powerful techniques in the field of food characterization. Experimental data associated with the thermal behavior of products and ingredients during their preparation or use allows a variety phenomena to be characterized.

Biomass

Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) allows acquiring data on biomass decomposition (combustion, torrefaction or pyrolysis) steps involving mass losses. Simultaneous differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) detects all the heat effects of the sample, and volatiles can be transferred to gas analyzers for identification.

CO2 Capture and Sequestration

Carbon neutral energy generation lies not just with renewable sources of energy, but with technology to make existing, and future energy sources, more environmentally responsible. One of the key areas of research is into the capture and sequestration of CO2 and Setaram offers a broad range of technologies that can be used to assist your research in these important fields:

Energy Storage Materials

The demand for improved energy efficiency is driving the development of systems allowing energy saving. Phase Change Materials incorporated in building materials for dynamic insulation or other examples such as carbon dioxide hydrates used in refrigeration loops can be accurately studied by our microcalorimeters, calorimeters and DSC.

Nanomaterials

Nanometer scaled materials (nanocrystals, nanotubes, nanospheres, nanocomposites,…) can enhance the mechanical, electrical, magnetic, optical, or chemical properties of conventional materials, and help in understanding small scale physical effects because of their intermediate size between bulk materials and atomic structures.

Gas Hydrates

Various issues relating to the presence of gas hydrates and their formation and dissociation need to be well understood. Plugging of pipelines is one of the main problems encountered by oil and gas companies.
