Nanometer scaled materials (nanocrystals, nanotubes, nanospheres, nanocomposites,…) can enhance the mechanical, electrical, magnetic, optical, or chemical properties of conventional materials, and help in understanding small scale physical effects because of their intermediate size between bulk materials and atomic structures.

calorimetry, thermal analysis and volumetry can provide general thermal characterization (thermal ageing, decomposition/stabilization, safety, sorption properties, phase change,…) for these new types of materials.
