Although glass is a very common material, its increasing technicality for special applications, and issues linked with its worldwide scale manufacturing requires state of the art analytic tools.

Apart from the famous glass transition temperature, which corresponds to the softening of the glass, DSC can become a key technique to study melting, crystallization and other phase transitions.

High temperature calorimetry becomes also very useful when process data such as heat capacity are to be measured.
