色々な実験で求められる必要な条件は、時として相反することがあります。例えば、良好な相転移の検出には少ない試料量が求められますが、正確な比熱容量の決定には大きな試料重量が求められます；分析には、一定温度が必要な場合も有れば変化する温度が必要な場合も有ります；使われるるつぼは、開放されている場合も有れば閉じられている場合も有ります。
これらの相反する要求を満たすために二種類のセンサーが開発されました。
MHTC 96 hf-DSCは：
• 金属、合金、鉱物や酸化物の構造転移の解析
• 平衡相図の作成
• 高温での材料の反応性の解析
• 連続或いはステップ法での比熱容量(Cp)の決定
MHTC 96 dropは:
• 等温モードで、落体式熱量測定を使って、各種材料の比熱容量測定、金属浴中の金属の融解熱解析（合金形成）、酸化物浴中の酸化物の解析（複合酸化物形成）、熱平衡の計算等。
• プログラム温度モードでは、大試料用DSCモードとして、DSCセンサーと同様の応用範囲があります。
