Calorimetry

Calorimetry measures the heat of transformation of a material subjected to a temperature variation in a controlled atmosphere.

96 LINE is a line of modular high temperature (ambient to 2100°C) and large volume thermal analyzers (drop-calorimeter, calorimeter, DTA, DSC, TGA, TMA).

Calorimetry is the technique with the highest sensitivity for characterizing nuclear materials and waste!
When radioactive waste material in a container emits α and β radiation (e.g. from curium, plutonium, tritium, etc.) it also emits an amount of heat that is proportional to the quantity of radioactive material. This heat emission can be quantified using a SETARAM calorimeter.
SETARAM instrumentation's large-volume calorimeters (from 1 l to 90 l) can detect thermal radiation levels of just a few μW.
